Rifamycin drugs

Rifamycin antibiotics are a class of antibiotics produced by the Mediterranean Streptomyces, which has a broad-spectrum antibacterial effect. And they have strong effects on mycobacterium tuberculosis, leprosy bacteria, Streptococcus, pneumococcus and other Gram-positive bacteria, especially on drug-resistant golden yellow Staphylococcus. For some gram-negative bacteria, they are also effective.

Rifamycin drugs include rifamycin B diacetamide, rifampicin equal, etc. , in which rifampicin, rifapentine and rifabutin are currently used clinically.

Rifampicin, which has the best efficacy and is currently most widely used, has broad spectrum antibacterial and can be used for a variety of bacterial infectious diseases. It don’t have cross-drug resistance with other drugs and its effect on tuberculosis is particularly prominent. For these reason, rifampicin is used as the first-line drugs for the treatment of tuberculosis.
