Iopamidol Usage And Synthesis
DescriptionLopamidol is a benzenedicarboxamide compound having N-substituted carbamoyl groups at the 1- and 3-positions, iodo substituents at the 2-, 4- and 6-positions and a (2S)-2-hydroxypropanamido group at the 5-position. It has a role as a radioopaque medium, an environmental contaminant and a xenobiotic. Lopamidol is a Radiographic Contrast Agent, it is a benzenedicarboxamide, an organoiodine compound and a pentol.
UsesDiagnostic aid (radiopaque medium.
UsesLopamidol is a radiopaque (RAY dee oh payk) contrast agent to help diagnose or find problems in the brain, heart, head, blood vessels, and other parts of the body. Iopamidol contains iodine, a substance that absorbs x-rays. Radiopaque contrast agents are used to allow blood vessels, organs, and other non-bony tissues to be seen more clearly on a CT scan or other radiologic (x-ray) examination.
Indications Iopamidol is indicated for angiography throughout the cardiovascular system in adults, including cerebral and peripheral arteriography, coronary arteriography and ventriculography, selective visceral arteriography and aortography, peripheral venography (phlebography), and in pediatric patients for angiocardiography; or for intravenous use in adult and pediatric for computed tomographic (CT) imaging of the head and body.
