Biological ActivitySecoisolariciresinol diglucoside ((S,S)-SDG), the major lignan in whole wheat flaxseed, has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-mutagenic, antimicrobial, anti-obesity, hypolipidemic and neuroprotective effects.
in vitroSecoisolariciresinol diglucoside (1-500 μM) possesses strong reducing power and high free radical scavenging activity for hydroxyl, peroxyl and DPPH free radicals.

Secoisolariciresinol diglucoside (4 mg/mouse; a single po) diminishes leukocyte adhesion and migration across blood-brain barrier (BBB) in neuroinflammation.
