OccurrenceA constituent of the ethanolic extract of Rauwolfia perakensis, pelirine forms colourless crystals from EtOH and is laevorotatory with a specific rotation of [α]D -121° (c 1.0, EtOH). The ultraviolet spectrum in EtOH consists of a single absorption maximum at 328 nm.
