2,6-Dichlorotoluene Usage And Synthesis
Chemical Propertiesclear colorless to slightly yellowish liquid
Uses2,6-Dichlorotoluene is an important organic intermediate. It can be used in agrochemical, pharmaceutical and dyestuff field.
Preparation2,6-Dichlorotoluene is obtained from the Sandmeyer reaction on 2-amino-6-chlorotoluene, ring chlorination and desulfonylation of p-toluene sulfonyl chloride, and from the chlorination and dealkylation of 4-tert-butyltoluene or 3,5-di-tert-butyltoluene.
Purification MethodsFractionally distil it and collect the middle fraction. [Beilstein 5 IV 815.]
