Description

Cocamidopropyl betaine(trade name: CAB) is a colorless or light yellow transparent viscous liquid. As a zwitterionic surfactant, it is used in acid and alkali. It has excellent stability under natural conditions, showing cationic and anionic properties, respectively. It has good compatibility, low irritation, easily soluble in water, stable to acid and alkali, more foam, strong detergency, and excellent thickening. Cocamidopropyl betaine can significantly improve the softness, conditioning and low temperature stability of washing products, and has no irritation or allergic reaction to skin and eye mucous membranes. It can interact with yin, yang, Compatible with non-ionic surfactants to obtain transparent liquid or colloid.

Chemical PropertiesA yellow transparent liquid. freezing point 0 ℃, density 1.04 g/cm3,surface tension (0.25% solution) 35×10-3 N/m. Soluble in water and biodegradable. Has a good foaming and thickening effect.
Uses

Cocamidopropyl betaine has softness, bactericidal and antistatic properties and good foaming effect. It is an excellent hair conditioner and can be used to formulate fine shampoo, bath agent, facial cleanser (cream) And baby skin care products; it is also an excellent softening treatment agent in the textile printing and dyeing industry, and is also widely used in oilfield mining.

UsesCocoamidopropyl betaine can be used as a component of cosmetics, shampoos, and bath liquids, as well as a leveling agent, wetting agent, softening agent, and antistatic agent for textiles. As a fungicide, the general dosage is 30 mg/L.
SynthesisCocoamidopropyl betaine was prepared by methyl cocoate and N,N-dimethyl-1,3-propanediamine reacted at at 100~120 ℃ for 4~5 h with 0.1% sodium methoxide as a catalyst.
