UsesMersalyl Acid Sodium Salt is used in biological studies to evaluate its effect on inositol triphosphate receptor binding and ion channel function.

Safety ProfilePoison by intravenous, intramuscular, and intraperitoneal routes. Used as a diuretic agent. When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes of Hg, NOx, and Na2O. See also MERCURY COMPOUNDS.
