3-Amino-9-ethylcarbazole Usage And Synthesis
Chemical Propertiesbrown fine crystalline powder and chunks
Chemical Properties3-Amino-9-ethylcarbazole is a brown or tan, crystalline compound.
Uses3-Amino-9-ethylcarbazole (AEC) has been used as a chromogen in immunohistochemistry to visualize the cells. It has also been used as a substrate in enzyme-linked immune absorbent spot (ELISpot).
Uses3-Amino-9-ethylcarbazole has been used to visualize the bound primary antibody by using a streptavidin method. It has also been used in visualizing tissue sections from tumour samples.
DefinitionA hydrochloride salt and free amine solid compound.
General DescriptionTan powder.
Air & Water ReactionsInsoluble in water.
Reactivity Profile3-Amino-9-ethylcarbazole neutralizes acids in exothermic reactions to form salts plus water. May be incompatible with isocyanates, halogenated organics, peroxides, phenols (acidic), epoxides, anhydrides, and acid halides. May generate hydrogen, a flammable gas, in combination with strong reducing agents such as hydrides.
HazardQuestionable carcinogen; poison.
Health HazardACUTE/CHRONIC HAZARDS: When heated to decomposition 3-Amino-9-ethylcarbazole emits toxic fumes.
Fire HazardNon-combustible, substance itself does not burn but may decompose upon heating to produce corrosive and/or toxic fumes. Some are oxidizers and may ignite combustibles (wood, paper, oil, clothing, etc.). Contact with metals may evolve flammable hydrogen gas. Containers may explode when heated.
Safety ProfileSuspected carcinogen with experimental carcinogenic data. Poison by ingestion and intraperitoneal routes. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of NOx,.
Potential ExposurePlant workers engaged in the manufacture of this compound and its use in pigment manufacture. Laboratory workers using this material in colorimetric enzyme assays and as a biological stain
