| | EDTA TETRASODIUM SALT: HYDRATE Usage And Synthesis |
| Chemical Properties | white to slightly yellow crystalline powder | | Uses | Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid tetrasodium salt hydrate is used as an inhibitor of metal ligand proteases. It also acts as a chelator of zinc ion in the active site of metalloproteases. It is used as an anticoagulant and also used in the fluorometric determination of beryllium. | | Uses | Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid tetrasodium salt hydrate has been used as an antimicrobial agent during biological ink preparation for use in biopolytronics. | | Uses | EDTA is an inhibitor of metalloproteases, at effective concentrations of 1-10 mM. EDTA acts as a chelator of the zinc ion in the active site of metalloproteases, and can also inhibit other metal ion-dependent proteases such as calcium-dependent cysteine proteases. For use as an anticoagulant, disodium or tripotassium salts of EDTA are most commonly used. The optimal concentration is 1.5 mg per ml of blood. | | General Description | Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid is a poylaminocarboxylic acid commonly used as a complexing agent. |
