 | Chemical Properties | 1,1-Dimethoxy-2,2,5-trimethyl-4-hexene is a colorless to pale yellow liquid
with a fresh, fruity, citrus grapefruit-peel-like odor. It has not been found in nature.
It is prepared by reaction of 2,2,5-trimethyl-4-hexenal (fromisobutyraldehyde and
prenyl chloride) with methanol in the presence of calcium chloride.
Due to its alkali stability, it is used in citrus compositions for soaps and
detergents. | | Definition | ChEBI: 6,6-Dimethoxy-2,5,5-trimethyl-2-hexene is an acetal. | | Flammability and Explosibility | Notclassified | | Trade name | Methyl Pamplemousse (Givaudan), Amarocit® (Symrise). |
